How Verification Works

EBLIT's verification system is built on three layers of protection — identity verification, product verification, and transaction verification. Here is how each layer works.

Layer 1 — Identity Verification

1

Government ID Submission

When you sign up to sell, or before you join a purchase waiting list as a buyer, EBLIT requires you to verify your identity. You are redirected to Stripe Identity — a secure, government-grade identity verification service operated by Stripe, Inc. You submit a photo of your government-issued ID and a selfie. Stripe verifies the authenticity of your document and confirms it matches your face.

2

What EBLIT Receives

EBLIT receives only a verification result — pass or fail. EBLIT does not receive or store a copy of your government ID document. Stripe holds your document data subject to Stripe's privacy policy. EBLIT receives your name, date of birth, and a verification status. This information is used solely to create your verified profile on EBLIT.

3

The FirmSecureHash System

Upon successful verification, EBLIT generates a secure cryptographic identifier linked to your verified identity. This identifier — called a FirmSecureHash or FSH — is used internally to track product ownership and detect fraud. Your FSH number is never displayed to you or any other user. It exists purely as a fraud-prevention and ownership-tracking mechanism.

Layer 2 — Product Verification

4

Unique Identifier Required

Every item listed on EBLIT must have a unique identifier — IMEI for mobile phones, VIN or Chassis Number for vehicles, Serial Number for electronics, or another applicable identifier. This requirement prevents duplicate listings, detects stolen goods, and creates a permanent ownership record for every item on the platform.

5

OCR Verification at Listing

When creating a listing, sellers can use EBLIT's built-in OCR scanner to scan the identifier directly from the device. The system reads and verifies the identifier with high confidence. Sellers who manually enter identifiers that do not match the physical item face immediate transaction cancellation and account penalties.

6

Duplicate Detection

EBLIT's system checks every new listing against all existing and historical listings. If an identifier has already been registered to a previous owner on the platform, the unauthorized relist is flagged. The registered owner is notified and the listing is reviewed before it can proceed.

Layer 3 — Transaction Verification

7

GPS Verification (Meetup)

For meetup transactions, both parties must be physically present at the agreed location before the transaction proceeds. EBLIT uses real-time GPS coordinates to verify presence. Location spoofing — using apps or VPNs to fake your location — is detected and results in immediate transaction cancellation and account suspension.

8

Identity Verification at Handoff (Meetup)

After payment and once the meetup location is agreed, each party is prompted to take a verification photo of themselves (or the person representing them). At the meetup, EBLIT reveals each party's photo to the other, and each compares the revealed photo to the person present to confirm the correct party. EBLIT's OCR system separately scans the item's unique identifier to confirm the item matches the listing; three failed OCR attempts result in automatic transaction cancellation. No government ID is presented or scanned at the meetup.

9

Code Exchange

Once both identities are confirmed, the buyer generates a one-time exchange code through the EBLIT app. The seller enters this code to confirm the transaction. This bilateral confirmation ensures both parties have physically met, both identities have been verified, and both parties voluntarily consent to complete the transaction.

10

Ownership Transfer Record

Upon transaction completion, EBLIT creates a permanent FSH-XFER record — a cryptographic chain-of-custody document that links the item's unique identifier to the new owner's verified identity. This record cannot be altered or deleted. It provides irrefutable proof of ownership for the buyer and irrefutable proof of sale for the seller.

Your data is protected: EBLIT uses industry-standard encryption, row-level database security, and cryptographic hashing to protect your personal information. In the event of a breach, your government ID number is never exposed because EBLIT never stores it.
